Why three services together
The market treats them separately, but clients face all three at once. An importer of tableware from Asia has packaging under PPWR, a product under food contact rules and goods under customs control, sometimes with an anti-dumping duty. On top of that, its large customers ask for sustainability data.
When three different providers handle these, each sees only part of the problem. We handle them together, because that is how they show up in practice.
Madalin Ion, Managing Director
Madalin Ion has led Best Practices since 2020. His career began in 1994 and spans three areas that are reflected in the company's services today.
Distribution and retail. He worked in sales and distribution at Procter & Gamble, Reckitt Benckiser and Telemobil. At TOYA Romania he set up the subsidiary's local operations and implemented the SAP R/3 system. From 2006 to 2019, at CESIRO HOUSE ALL, he led the distribution of earthenware tableware and organised sourcing from China, India, the Philippines, Taiwan and the EU, with suppliers found directly at international trade fairs. He has worked with Romania's major retail chains since the opening of the first METRO store: Real, Selgros, Auchan, Kaufland, Carrefour, Dedeman, Praktiker, Penny, Plus Discount, NOI Retail and DCN EU Retail.
Industrial manufacturing. At METALOPLAST he was Commercial Director and Deputy General Manager, with customers such as Dacia-Renault, Electrolux and Daewoo. At CESIRO S.A. he worked in earthenware tableware manufacturing, with customers such as IKEA, Carrefour and Metro. At R-PLASTIND he ran a recycling plant for polyethylene and polypropylene film, with a capacity of up to 24 tonnes a day and more than 90 employees.
Education. He holds a PhD in economics, a master's degree in logistics and supply chain management, and an engineering degree in automotive mechanics. He is a certified ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and OHSAS 18001 auditor, and a certified expert in structural and cohesion funds and in public procurement.
He is a member of the University of Oxford's Climate Leadership Research Centre (Environmental Change Institute), a research centre that works with leaders from business, politics and sport to accelerate climate action.

- April 2020: the first import of FFP2 masks into Romania, in the first weeks of the pandemic.
- An automated woodworking line, imported and installed for an IKEA supplier.
- Sourcing of photovoltaic panels for projects in Romania, Poland, Germany and the Netherlands.
